Abstract

This research delves into the assessment framework and progress of urban climate resilience and adaptability in semi-arid areas, using Gansu Province as a case study. An assessment of the overall climate resilience and adaptability of Gansu Province was conducted by establishing a comprehensive evaluation index system and utilizing the TOPSIS method for integrated analysis. Among the prefecture-level cities and autonomous prefectures, Lanzhou exhibited a high level of resilience, whereas Baiyin displayed lower resilience. The results highlight significant variations in urban resilience levels across Gansu Province, influenced by diverse factors. Therefore, it is imperative to develop climate adaptation plans tailored to different cities' specific conditions to enhance urban climate resilience and achieve sustainable development objectives.
