Abstract

The research area is located in the Wuyi Mountain area of Dunhuang, Gansu Province, belonging to an extremely arid desert region. Previous hydrogeological surveys in the area had not conducted geophysical exploration work, and most of the hydrological boreholes previously drilled had either low water yield or almost no water yield. In this study, based on a comprehensive analysis of existing regional geological and hydrogeological data, the researchers conducted Controlled Source Audio-frequency Magnetotellurics (CSAMT) measurements and high-density electrical resistivity tomography (ERT) measurements. This work essentially identified the hydrogeological characteristics such as buried fracture water in the structural zones of the research area and water-rich properties. Hydrogeological boreholes were then deployed, and subsequent drilling confirmed a relatively high water yield.
