Abstract

To explore the preventive maintenance and necessity strengthening of service concrete structures suffering from chloride attack, two parameters, the crack width and corrosion depth of reinforcement, are selected as the status indicators throughout the degradation process of cracked concrete structures. Then, based on state index, the maintenance decision-making model of concrete structure in chloride environment is established. The RCM test is adopted to evaluate the effectiveness of several preventive maintenance measures conducted on the cracked concrete element and it is found that the microorganism induced calcium precipitation (MICP for short) sealing method has better redeeming effect. The relevant results can provide certain references for the research on the maintenance and strengthening decision of service concrete structures.
