Abstract

Digital development represents a strategic direction for China's economic and social development. This paper takes corporate environmental performance as the research perspective and environmental information disclosure as the moderating variable to explore the environmental effects of digital transformation. The findings of the study indicate that digital transformation has a negative impact on corporate environmental performance. The process of digital transformation has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between environmental information disclosure and corporate environmental performance. Conversely, financing constraints exert a negative moderating effect on the relationship between digital transformation and corporate environmental performance. The results of the heterogeneity analyses indicate that digital transformation exerts a more pronounced negative influence on the environmental performance of non-state-owned enterprises. The research offers new insights for enterprises to implement digital transformation, and encourages the green development of enterprises.
